October 2011

If you know about a dope event on the horizon send us the link at transmit@darkmattersquad.com and we will check it out.  Doesn't matter if its here or there, as long as it's somewhere.

Event Info:
https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=267685383260401

Every day we encounter sounds that affect us in many different ways. We use sound to communicate, to connect with people all over the globe, to process information, to express ourselves. We create sounds for the same reasons, sometimes explicitly, sometimes implicitly.

Sounds can remind us of the past, of people we’ve met, they help us to connect and relate, they can define how we’re feeling and can make us want to get up and dance or just lay in bed all day. Sounds have a meaning.

On October 5th connect, meet and create for SoundCloud’s Global Meetup Day and let the world know what sound means to you. How does it fit into your life? What makes you remember a sound, what kind of ideas does it spark, how does it inspire you?

From Sydney to San Francisco and from Tokyo to Rio, we’re calling all SoundClouders and enthusiasts to join us for a global get-together. Let’s show the world the true volume of sound and shout it from the rooftops of the SoundCloud Community!

This Meetup will be broadcasted LIVE on www.deephouselounge.com

Last time I head Downlink he was on tour with Excision and blew the roof of the place. He literally stole the entire show. Dropping Darude’s Sandstorm Dub mix had me cracking up for days. He returns to Baltimore in November in addition to this DC appearance, I’ll be at that one for logistical reasons.

Porter Robinson Presents The Spitfire Tour

Saturday, October 22

Where: Baltimore, MD – Soundstage

Event Info: Click Here

"Unlikely doesn't even begin to describe Porter Robinson's rapid ascent to the forefront of the world of dance music. Hailing from North Carolina, 18-year-old Porter Robinson had never set foot in a club when his smash hit "Say My Name" shot to number one on Beatport's Electro-House chart, making people do just that on dancefloors and DJ booths across the globe. Complex yet catchy, and classic yet cutting edge, Porter Robinson's instantly recognizable sound has earned him the raving support of legendary producers such as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, David Guetta, The Crystal Method and Armand Van Helden, and landed him shows across the globe – all before he had even had the chance to finish high school.

Some might call Porter a prodigy, but that label belies his musical maturity and ignores his years of production experience, which reveal themselves in the way he blends the best of seemingly distinct genres into a style uniquely his own. His massive electro hooks paired with nasty dubstep warbles and shimmering trance breakdowns transcend tired genre adjectives like "progressive" or "fidget", taking listeners into an uncharted territory of hard-hitting house music."

No Excuses Vol.1 - All Styles Dance Battle

This is the first of a series of battles I'll be hosting in the lovely windy city. The title says it all! For the preliminary rounds, dancers are allowed to bring their own songs in, and will be judged on their performance to songs.
