808 Thoughts v.2
Roland Say’s Dance sucker!
Hey everyone, Happy new year! I know its late but forgive me. We here at DM have been working tirelessly with Symbiotic putting together our spring fling Lego Land, All Fluid Styles competition, and Helix Dance Workshop. While digging through Youtube for music that we would use during our all fluid styles battle at Lego Land, my nostalgia got the best of me, which it usually does, and came across a few tracks that I wanted to share with you guys. I hope you guys enjoy them and come out to party with us in April!
Derrick May // Strings of Life
The song that changed it all and evolved House Music to become a new sound called Techno. This is more a piece of art then dance music. Listen to Derrick May tell about the evolution of this track in his own words. http://youtu.be/837v4hn2tMA
Joey Beltram // Energy Flash
Mow mow mow mow, mow mow mow mow mow. Classic!
Listen to NYC native Joey Beltram describe this track and some of electronic music royalty in their own words. This track BLEW up NYC and then Europe.
Goldie // Inner City Life
The tack that single handedly took Drum and Bass from a strictly underground sound to complete exposure into pop culture. This is a masterpiece. For a funny perspective watch from 5:44 and hear Goldie describe how this track came into being.
KC Flightt // Planet E
Fun song that has a conscious message that was popular with late 80’s and early 90’s music.
The hook was sampled from a popular 80’s band the Talking Heads - "Once In A Lifetime"
A Guy Called Gerald // Voodoo Ray
Haunting is one word to describe this acid house masterpiece. I love to hear this track on a great sound system.
Future Sounds of London // Papua New Guinea
This is one of my favorite chill out tracks! I loved to come home after a party and close my eyes and go on a journey inward with tracks like this one.
